Mr. Vaughn is an experienced attorney concentrating on patent matters, with an emphasis on patent procurement, enforcement, licensing and rendering opinions concerning patentability, clearance, infringement and validity. He also has extensive experience conducting personal interviews at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Mr. Vaughn counsels clients in worldwide acquisition, prosecution and policing of patents in the mechanical and electrical and electro-mechanical arts. His prosecution expertise includes vehicle battery systems, vehicle engines, vehicle roof modules, vehicle drive trains, household appliances, consumer goods, industrial machinery and equipment, safety ladders, hand tools, cutting tools, cutlery, medical devices, printers, sporting goods, food processing, automotive systems, nano technology, green/clean technology, consumer goods, and semiconductor devices such as CMOS image sensors and flash drives.

Mr. Vaughn also has extensive experience providing guidance and counseling on various aspects of brand management, with an emphasis on trademark preparation, prosecution, maintenance, licensing and enforcement. He also has extensive experience representing clients in trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings before the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.

Mr. Vaughn was formerly an adjunct professor at the George Washington University (GWU), teaching the fundamentals of litigation in the College of Professional Studies.

Mr. Vaughn was formerly a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where he evaluated patent applications for patentability in the mechanical arts, including industrial tools and hand tools. He also was formerly an adjunct professor at the George Washington University (GWU), teaching the fundamentals of litigation in the College of Professional Studies.

Personal

Mr. Vaughn is father to one daughter, Hailey Anne. He is an avid cyclist and wine enthusiast.  A former personal trainer and high school track and field (athletics) All-American, he enjoys various sports, such as American football, soccer/football and track and field (athletics).
